This exotic Bandhani and its variants make it stand quintessential in the Indian traditional saree art. This Sensational and adroit art, comes from the nomads of the desert regions of Gujarat and Rajasthan majorly. Evolving out of a simple-seeming but extremely calculated process of tie & dye, accuracy of which arises appeal from the way the knots in the form of resists are tied before dying, the precision in the placement of the knots and the colors that are chosen, our family from kutch is having the first-rated skills of making these original and rare art pieces of their extra ordinary detailing designs.
Process
We have been practicing this craft since past
4 generations. Our entire family helps in the process of completing the Bandhej
Saree. This art is 5000 year old traditional art. The whole process is divided
into four stages of designing, weaving, tying and dying. At the very first, I
myself design the attire, where the paper work happens with a decision of use of
threads, fabric, color, weaving, art of weaving. For the second stage, we send
it to the particular state for its weaving like Maharashtra for paithani,
Banaras for banarasee, Patan for Patola, Lucknow for chikankari etc.; this
process itself takes 4-6 months of time
span to get just plain fabric with weaving. For the third stage, we trace
design for the dying and we send that for the tying at particular artists’
place and decide the color for bandh which takes 6 months to 2 years of time.
Finally, we dye the fabric, with its calculations of thread count and fabric.
Dying is known as ‘Rangaat, coloring on the bandhej requires trick and skills
to maintain its beauty. It is a very calculative process to make a right
blend. It is an Indian style of tie-and-dye
process articulated in the best Indian traditional fashion. Accuracy of this
process makes this ensemble unique in all. Tying is a time taking process; it
takes around a year to bind the bandh into the tiniest dots for its beauty. We
take this process for selecting It is been said Kutch produces the finest
